Every child knows that Santa gives a lump of coal to all the children who make it onto his naughty list throughout the year. It’s a tradition that goes back 200 years, to a time when most people heated their homes with coal.
But times have changed, and modern coal production has become one of the most destructive industries on earth, poisoning the water that both humans and wild animals need to live, while also releasing greenhouse gasses that cause climate change.
Today, companies from Australia want to bring this destructive industry to the Foothills of Alberta, where it will poison the water that Albertans rely on for everything from irrigating the crops that fill our grocery stores, to the traditional practices of our First Nation friends, upon whose land we live.
Albertans have united in telling the government that we want our Foothills left alone, however that has not stopped the push for coal mining by our elected representatives.
Ho-Ho-Hold the Coal provides a fun & affordable way to teach your children that everyone can make a difference, even if they’re too young to vote.
Simply have your children write a letter asking Santa to join the fight in protecting Alberta’s Foothills, by discontinuing the practice of giving coal to naughty children, then mail (free of charge from within Canada) to the address below before Christmas 2021.
